gabriel shulman: composer

about
Born in Austin, Texas, Gabriel grew up in nearby Wimberley surrounded by music. Influenced early by his parents’ eclectic tastes, he began studying piano at eleven before quickly moving to guitar at thirteen and bass at eighteen. After high school, he began playing in bands while teaching himself drums and expanding his range as a multi-instrumentalist.
Gabriel earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Media Studies from Texas State University before pursuing filmmaking abroad. He later completed a Master’s degree in Directing at EICAR International Film School in Paris, where he developed a strong foundation in cinematic storytelling and visual language.
Now based in Los Angeles, Gabriel works at the intersection of film and music, composing and producing original pieces informed by a wide range of influences including rock, jazz, blues, country, folk, psychedelic, classical, ambient, and electronic music. His background in directing and narrative filmmaking shapes his approach to composition, allowing him to craft music that supports and enhances the emotional and narrative rhythms of the screen.
